Several breast lifting “Mastopexy” techniques are currently available for Plastic Surgeons to use for the correction of sagging breasts.
Some of these techniques rely on the skin to lift and hold the breast in its new lifted position. Some basically pull the nipple areola skin up without actually lifting the bulk of the breasts. These often result in unnatural flattening of the breasts and their scars typically stretch. Others are based on breast reduction techniques, which in addition to lifting the nipple and the areola, the entire breast tissue is pushed up and lifted, filling the upper chest flatness which is so commonly seen in sagging breasts.
Over the years I have used the “inferior pedicle” technique, one of the true breast lifting techniques with very good results. I have now modified the “inferior pedicle” technique to a new shape. This refined method is known as the “total breast pedicle technique” for mastopexy. Using this technique I am able to sculpt the tissues to mimic the shape of a more youthful looking breast.
I have been very pleased with the “total breast pedicle technique” as I am achieving far superior results. The breasts not only feel firmer, they appear more round and perky. The “total breast pedicle” technique leaves the maximum amount of breast tissue under the nipple thus preserving the blood supply and the nipple sensation far better than other methods do. In addition, milk production is affected much less which may be important for some women.
I am now performing the “total breast pedicle technique” in all of my patients who need breast lifting.
Pt. 1 - 34 years old. Following her pregnancy and enlargement of the breast during lactation, patient lost a significant amount of breast tissue and subcutaneous fat with severe ptosis. After the "totle breast pedicle" technique for mastopexy, the patient achieved the desired round and perky fullness of the breast.
Pt. 2 - 42 years old. Patient had moderate ptosis with asymmetry. After the procedure patient achieved a youthful shape.
Pt. 3 - 36 years old. Patient noticed a reduction in the size along with a sagging of the breasts following her two pregnancies. Patient achieved perky, more youthful breasts after the "total breast pedicle technique" for mastopexy.
